Geraldine “Geri” Bush, 83 of Whatley, passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at Monroe Manor Health and Rehabilitation in Monroeville. She was born March 1, 1936 to John and Anna Hanson Cleveland in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles.
A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, she had been stationed in London, England where she met and later married her husband of 60 years, Herbert P. Bush. After her discharge from the military, she worked for a time as a beautician while working on her degree in special education and would work as a special education teacher with the Jackson County Board of Education in Mississippi until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Roger Cleveland and Phyllis Groth.
She is survived by her husband; children, Ricky J. (Vicki) Bush, Robin W. (Denise) Bush; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at Gosport Cemetery with the Rev. Tommy Gaillard officiating and Lathan Funeral Home directing.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, the Gosport Cemetery Fund or The Methodist Children’s Home.
