Geraldine Alice Woodson, 91, of Birmingham, passed away at her residence on July 1, 2021. She was born in Jackson on November 12, 1929 to George Ernest and Elwyn Smith Woodson. She attended Jackson High School and graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science degree. Geraldine began a 34-year career with the University of Alabama in Birmingham. At UAB, she served as Director of Medical Technology and the Chairman of Allied Health Sciences Department. Upon retirement, she was awarded the Assistant Dean Emerita of the School of Health Professions.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ernest Franklin (Jane) Woodson and sister Mina Woodson Berger (Robert).
She is survived by her brother Wendell Gordon (Nancy) Woodson and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Her family extends gratitude and special thanks to her devoted friend, Betty Canan, and her caregivers, Stacey Stallworth, Angela Murphy, Cassandra Davis, Erin Johnson, Gloria Johnson and Ingrid Moore
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church in Jackson with the Rev. Ralph Wooten officiating. Visitation will begin thirty minutes prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Jackson with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Ben Berger, Frank Woodson, Kevin Woodson, Parker Woodson, Martin Woodson and Stan Woodson.
