Glan Rawls, 85, of Leroy, passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at Mobile Infirmary. He was born in Red Level on September 30, 1935 to Calvin and Merlie Gorum Rawls. A member of The First Baptist Church of Leroy, he was also a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict. He was a devoted family man who worked hard to provide for his family. He retired at Ciba Geigy as a Formulation Supervisor and enjoyed farming, woodworking, hunting, fishing and raising Black Angus cattle.
He was preceded in death by his son, Glan Rawls, Jr.; grandson, Stephen Clay Carpenter; great-grandchild, Aiden Grey Duke; son-in-law, Stephen Ray Carpenter and brother, Jack Rawls.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Jane Rawls; daughters, Jo Roxanne Rawls, Tracey Carpenter (James) Roney; grandchildren, Morgain Elizabeth Carpenter (John Jacob) Garrett, Julian Grey (Danielle Marie) Carpenter, Raechel Jane (Calvin) Bosarge, William Taylor Rawls (Katherine Elizabeth Ott) Carpenter; great-grandchildren, Lilly Jane Carpenter, Julian Grey Carpenter, Evan William Galan Garrett, Jack Avery McDaniel Garrett, Grant Elijah Jacob Garrett, Calvin “Tripp” Bosarge, III; step-grandchildren, James Henry Roney, Jon Hunter Roney; brother, Dwight Rawls and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at The First Baptist Church of Leroy with the Revs. Ben Posey and Dave Delegal officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in the Old Leroy Baptist Cemetery (adjacent to the church).
Pallbearers will be Calvin Bosarge, Jr., Mark Harrell, Andy Kieth, Elwood Overstreet, Trip Overstreet and Zachary Thornton.
