Heather Cowen

Heather Elaine Chapman Cowen, 45, of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, passed away on November 11, 2023, at Ascension Sacred Heart Emerald Coast Hospital in Miramar Beach, Florida. She was born on March 6, 1978, to parents Richard Thomas Chapman and Frances Elaine Roberts Chapman. A former educator, she was a graduate of Choctaw County High School and Troy University.

Preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents, Warren and Vernell Welch Gibson and Glover and Frances Williamson Roberts; grandfather, Robert Carl Chapman; and uncle, David Chapman.

Survived by her husband, Edward Smith Cowen, Jr.; sons, John Henry Cowen and Whitman Jefferson Cowen; daughter, Elaine Marie Cowen; sister, Sharon Fremin (Ross); brother, John Richard Chapman; aunts, Brenda Roberts Chastain (Robbie), Ramona Roberts Rhodes (Mike), and Amanda Roberts Wyatt (Steve), as well as many other extended family and loving friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, November 17, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Lathan Funeral Home, Jackson with Reverend Jack Allen officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior under the direction of Lathan Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Trinity Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Chris Akins, Robbie Chastain, Jake Cowen, Ross Fremin, Bryan Jenkins, and Tyler Reynolds.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ the King Episcopal Church, 480 N. County Hwy 393, Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459.
