Henry Merritt

Henry John Merritt, 61 of Deer Park, passed away Thursday, November 22, 2018 at his residence with his loved ones at his side. He was born September 21, 1957. He was a man of few words, but words of meaning. You were a mountain among men, a kinder gentler, more giving soul. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friend, Brian Dantzler
He was preceded in death by his father, Hubert Henry Merritt; brother, John Henry Merritt and grandparents, Ellie and Geannette Scott and John and Irene Merritt.
He is survived by his mother, Ellen Omeida Patterson and Donald Patterson; children, Calvin Butler, Trevar Butler, Odessa Toma; sisters, Elizabeth Matthews and Gary Holliman, Mary Jane and Donnie Bledsoe, sister-in-law, Terri Merritt; six grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 26, 2018 at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson with the Rev. Wilkie Parker officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson from 5-8 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Chatom Town Cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Eric Matthews, Randall Spivey, Gordon Stroud, Brian Dantzler, Edward Matthews, Dennis Chess, Gary Holliman, Carrie Encalave and Donnie Bledsoe.
