Imogene Lankford Johnson, 95, of Wagarville, passed away Friday, September 27, 2019 at The Washington County Nursing Home. She was born May 5, 1924 to Eugene and Alma Lankford in Wagarville. A very active member of Wagarville Holiness Church, she also enjoyed sewing, gardening, fishing, crochet, and travel. She even took up painting at the age of 80.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James E. Johnson and siblings, Willene Everette, Kathleen McCully, Naomi Drinkard and Herbert Ralph Lankford.
She is survived by her children, Jeannie Jones of Robertsdale, David (Melinda) Johnson, Sandy (Jimmy) Carpenter, both of Wagarville, Angela (Benny) Sullivan of Anniston; sister, Irma Richardson of Loxley; nine grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 29, 2019 at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson with the Revs. David Goldman and Austin Sullivan officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery in Wagarville with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Randy Powell, Robert Davis, Dallas Sullivan, Kristopher Sullivan, Jarrad Sullivan and Lewis Cleaves.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wendi Pearson, Julie Borrelli, Kristen Cleaves and Lacy Lankford.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Washington County Nursing Home Van Fund.
