Jake Simpson “Papa Jake” Guy, Sr., 70, of Wagarville, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2019 at his residence surrounded by family. He was born July 15, 1949 to James E. Guy and Frances A. Bradley. He enjoyed outdoor activities including hunting and fishing and especially working in his garden or driving a tractor. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Monica Renee’ Piper; step-father, Elvin Bradley and brothers, Danny Guy and Blane Guy.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Fay Guy of Wagarville; children, Jake (Vicki Jordan) Guy, Jr. of Leroy, Merita Guy (Rod) Pearson of Fulton; grandchildren, Chase Guy, John Hammac, Alise (Daniel) McIntyre, Jessica (Gary Reeves) Piper, Tiffiney (Oscar Parks) Piper, Megan Piper, Tasha (Jason) Young, Malinda (Mike) Mazingo, Rebecca (Dylan) Downey; great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Avery, Emma, Brice, Madelyn, Cassidy, Walker, Viya, Drew, Brayden, Jaxx, Chloe, Dakota, Jayden, Kayden; siblings, Jewel (Danny) Fleming, Rev. David (Jane) Guy, Sr., Rev. George (Kim) Guy, Allen (Elaine) Guy and long-time friend, Billy McConnell.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at Clearwater Assembly of God with the Revs. Jimmie Butts, Larry Sullivan and David Guy, Sr., officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at the church. Interment will follow the service on Wednesday in the church cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Danny Gates, David Guy, Jr., Trey McConnell, Daniel McIntyre, Gary Reeves and Oscar Parks.
Honorary pallbearers will be employees of McConnell Logging, John Woodyard, Raymond Woodyard, Grady Alday, John Hammac, Chase Guy, Fred Keith and Dr. Norman Stevens.
