James Edwin Davis, Sr., 86, a resident of Jackson, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2016 at Jackson Medical Center. He was born November 26, 1929 in Whatley to Edwin Blount and Ethel James Davis. He had been employed at Ciba-Geigy for 34 years. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict and was a mason and member of Santa Fe Lodge #226. A member of Stave Creek Baptist Church, he served as a deacon and on the Cemetery Committee.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mary Narvis Davis of Jackson; children, Cynthia (Benny) Turberville of Jackson, Jimmy (Susan) Davis of Jackson, Mark (Karen) Davis of Thomasville, Eric (Gina) Davis of Jackson; sister, Ouida Davis Morgan of Fairford; grandchildren, Leigh (Jason) Harrell, Amanda (Josh) Shirley, Catherine (Phillip) Bradley, Jami (Daniel) Whillock, Tiffany (Lee) Goldman, Trey (Christy) Davis, Robert Davis, William Davis, Heather Lowe, Nick (Shea) Lowe and 14 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at Stave Creek Baptist Church on Monday, November 21 at 11:00 a.m. with Revs. Hughie Denton and Josh Shirley officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Trinity Memorial Gardens immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stave Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or the Gideons.
