James William "Bill" Head, 62, of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away December 14, 2018 at his residence. He was born February 19, 1956 to James Hubert and Barbara Jean Head in Goldsboro, NC. An environmental engineer, he was a passionate outdoorsman who enjoyed numerous hobbies including fishing, golf, tennis, bicycling and scuba diving. He also enjoyed playing guitar, reading and catching up with friends. He was a loving husband and father who worked hard to provide for his family, including his beloved dog, Bella.
He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Robbie Johnson.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sonia Johnson Head; son, Randall Head; brother, Larry (Mary) Head; mother-in-law, Mary Johnson; sisters-in-law, Nancy (Victor) Driver, Cathy (Dewayne) Jackson and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Rockville Baptist Church in Jackson with the Rev. Mark Dunn officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be David Head, Siler Head, Randall Head, Wesley Driver, Charlie Driver, Jon Brackin, Dewayne Jackson and Victor Driver.
