James Hickman

James Robert Hickman, 86, of Grove Hill, passed away peacefully at his home on November 5, 2022. He was born July 18, 1936, to parents JB and Carrie V. Rollins Hickman. James married Donnie Faye Donelson and made Grove hill their home. Mr. Hickman worked for ALDOT, and continued working for various contractor after retirement, he loved his job as an engineer, being outdoors and traveling around the state. James loved his family very much and cherished spending time with them. One of his favorite places to visit was the state of Tennessee, he and Donnie took many trips up there.
Preceded in death by his parents, brothers Thomas Pierce, John Horace, William Earl, Billy Wayne, sister Salonie Knieram, father-in-law Ralph Odom.
Survived by his wife of 56 years Donnie Hickman, daughters Cathy Cooke, Stacy Hickman, Donna Sue Ward, grandchildren Jesse (Crystal) Cooke, Rob (Chelsea Brown) Cooke, Randi Ward, Adam Cooke, Riley Ward, and Libby Lang, great grandchildren Lizzie Dunagan and Millie Dunagan, mother-in-law Allie V. Odom, also many nieces, nephews, and loving friends.
Pallbearers will be Jesse Cooke, Rob Cooke, Adam Cooke, Riley Ward, Randi Ward, Tony Cooke, and Greg Ward. Honorary pallbearers are Barney McIntosh, Roger Newton, Roy Carlisle, Perry Lankford, Allen Browder, and Tony Bishop.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. at Magnolia Lawn Cemetery in Grove Hill, Bro. Barney McIntosh will be officiating and Lathan Funeral Home conducting.
