James Kevan Tucker, 52, of Grove Hill died Friday, September 16, 2022 in Mobile. Kevan was born February 18, 1970 to James Pettus and Mary Ellen Tucker in Fayette. He loved outdoor activities; from hunting in his younger years, boating and fishing any chance he had to raising cattle and gardening. The type of man who could never sit still, Kevan was "diagnosed" by his family as being very hyperactive. He used these qualities to his benefit as he enjoyed tinkering and building things for his loved ones. His coworkers also benefitted from his strategic planning, organizational and logistical skills.
Kevan served the citizens of Alabama for 29 years through the Alabama Cooperative Extension System most recently as the Auburn University Clarke County Extension Coordinatior. Over the course of his career he was instrumental in many 4-H livestock programs such as Chick Chain, Pig Squeal and Dairy Heifer programs. Kevan also served as the coordinator of the HerdBuilder Replacement Heifer Sales since 2005 and was heavily involved in several economic development projects in Clarke County.
Kevan was a member of several organizations including the Alabama BCIA (Beef Cattle Improvement Association), Alabama Cattlemens Association, Clarke County Cattlemens Association, Clarke County Farmers Federation, Alabama Farmers Federation, Alabama 4-H, and AACAAS (Alabama Association of County AG Agents and Specialists).
Kevan is survived by his daughter Jessie Tucker (William Fuller); mother, Mary Ellen Tucker; sister, Karan Ellen Tucker; uncle, Ralph Thomas Smith; special little buddy, Tre Etheredge as well as several other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Pettus Tucker.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, September 19, 2022 at Grove Hill Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 11:30 am with the funeral service beginning at 11:30 am.
Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at 12:00 pm at Landers Cemetery, 801 Landers Road, Jacksonville, AL 36265.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Wiggins, John Finley, Kent Stanford, Edward Bradford, Danny Miller, Jeremy May, Will Underwood, Randy Wiggins, Brandon Smith and Tommy Smith.
Honorary pallbearer will be Tre Etheredge.
