James “Mac” Leiland McDonald, 79, of Jackson, passed away Friday, February 28, 2020 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham. He was born November 22, 1940 to Carlos McDonald and Onzie Pugh McDonald, both of whom preceded him in death. A retired employee at Clarke Washington EMC, he had previously been employed as “The Milkman” for 25 years. He enjoyed hunting, feeding and watching birds, mowing the lawn, and watching his Alabama football, and spending time with his family and friends. He was an active member of Forest Avenue Baptist Church in Jackson and was well-known for his sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret McDonald; children, Jimmy (Valerie) McDonald, Blake (Tara) McDonald, Leigh (David) Milstead; grandchildren, Meagan McDonald, C.J. (Jenna) McDonald, Cooper McDonald, Carson McDonald; siblings Glenn (Jenny) McDonald, Shirley (Robert) Johnson, Betty (Buck) Bedsole and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Monday, March 2, 2020 at Forest Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. Dustin Shelander and Dr. Ben Stubblefield officiating. Visitation will begin two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Trinity Memorial Gardens with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be C.J. McDonald, Jake Bailey, Wayne Faile, Leroy Mitchell, Leonard McHaney, Terry Horton and Francis Fleming.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bubba Rikard, Howard Jones, Howard Few, Robert Bumpers, Kenneth McIntyre, Bud Rogers and members of Forest Avenue Baptist Church Cornerstone Sunday School Class.
