James Augusta Moore, 74, of Whatley, passed away on April 22, 2024, at Grove Hill Memorial Hospital. He was born on December 13, 1949, to parents Robert Augusta and Mary Virginia Wilson Moore. James lived in Clarke County and was a Millwright by trade and worked for many companies around the area. After retiring he got into the construction business. When he was able to get away, he loved the outdoors hunting, fishing, he enjoyed the time spent with his sons and grandchildren doing so. He was a man of faith, hardworking, and a provider for his family, all of whom he loved dearly.
Preceded in death by his parents, brothers Sanford Moore, Wayne Moore, and sister Mary Dell Prater.
Survived by his wife Alice Pugh Moore, children James Marion (Calli) Moore, Joshua Wayne (Sharron) Moore, John David (Marcie) Moore, grandchildren Tyler Nelson, Courtney Harris, Matthew Harris, Tyler Moore, Jace Moore, Dylan Lynn, Brayden Lynn, Maggie Moore, brother Walter Wilson (Wanda) Moore, sister Virginia (Gerald) Lindholm, also many nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2024, at Tompkins Baptist Church cemetery with Dr. Johnny Kindrick officiating and Lathan Funeral Home Directing. Online condolences may be shared at www.lathanfuneralhome.com
