James Newton

November 15, 1946 — June 20, 2024

James Samuel "Jimmy" Newton, 77 of Jackson, passed away June 20, 2024 with several loved ones by his side. Jimmy was born November 15, 1946. In the 9th grade he met the stunning Susan Faye Thomas who would later do him the proud honor of becoming his bride. Jimmy served his country for a total of 27 years first in the United States Air Force then in the National Guard. James worked as a truck driver for many years and earned the name "Hollywood" before retiring. Retirement wasn't all it was cracked up to be and Jimmy soon found some work to enjoy at Richardson Farms. After his sickness took hold, Jimmy could often be found in his beloved shop.

Jimmy took pleasure in the simple things in life. He loved his chickens and his precious puppies, a Pitbull named Rock and a Chihuahua named Bit-Bit. He had a passion for classic cars which he shared with his dear friend of over 55 years, Leonard Wright. He enjoyed watching University of Alabama Football. Above all, Jimmy loved his family and cherished being "Papa" to his grandbabies. He will be dearly loved and missed.

Jimmy is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Susan Faye Newton; children, Michael (Laura) Newton and Stacy (Jimbob) Spence; grandchildren, Desi (Jeremy) Rush, Erin (Quante) Bone, Victoria Newton (Allen Michael) Johnson, Bethany (Ethan) Salter, and Michael Seth (Sarah) Newton; great grandchildren, Braxton Bone, Nova Salter, Isaiah Rush, Maliah Salter, Paisley Dunagan, and Ann Margaret Rush; special and dear friend, Leonard Wright; and his two special puppies, Rock and Bit-Bit.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Vertis Opile Newton; sisters, Dot Dunn and Ruby Stoker; as well as his precious grandson, James Daniel Newton.
