James Thomas Sheffield, 77, of St. Stephens, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at Mobile Infirmary. He was born August 10, 1942 to Tommie Sheffield and Lila Nell Finney Sheffield in Grove Hill. A member of the First Baptist Church of St. Stephens, he had also served at one time on the St. Stephens Volunteer Fire Department. He was a devoted family man and enjoyed yard work, especially cutting grass. He was also an avid fan of The University of Alabama football team and Nascar.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Jean Beech and Earl Sheffield.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Irene Moseley Sheffield; daughter, Sandra (Tim) Padgett; grandchildren, Thomas (Kaley) Padgett, Sydney Padgett; siblings, Janice (Johnny Ray) Goldman, Cecil (Virginia) Sheffield and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 2019 at the First Baptist Church of St. Stephens with Revs. Gary Patrick and Drexel Copeland officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Darrell Deas, Oliver Goldman, Mike Goldman, Jamey Napper, Andy Parnell and Donovan Smith.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lloyd Gaddy, Herbert Ray McMullen, H.M. Moseley, Madison Moseley, Joe Smith, Terrell Smith and Randy Morris.
