Janet Mckee

February 3, 1933 — February 25, 2017

Janet Myrick McKee, 84, of Jackson, passed away February 25, 2017 at Jackson Healthcare Facility. She was born February 3, 1933 to Clarence Rone and Winnie Scruggs Myrick in Coffeeville. She graduated from Coffeeville High School and received a Bachelor of Arts in education from Livingston University. She began her teaching career at Augusta Evans School in Mobile, but taught at Joe M. Gilmore and Jackson Academy after she and her husband moved to Jackson in 1965. Together, they also founded The Medical Store in Jackson.



A longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Jackson, it was her goal in life to be a Christian wife, mother and teacher.



She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Roy Myrick, Ned Myrick and Alice Deas.



She is survived by her husband, Robert "Bob" McKee; children, Lisa McKee of Charlotte, NC, Angelia McKee (Mark) Wiggins of Oxford, MS, Robbin Allan (Melisaa) McKee of Jackson; grandchildren, Heather Wiggins (Jim) Moffatt, Haley Wiggins (Joseph) Murphy, Erin McKee, Brittnie McKee, Caleb (Lane) McKee and great-grandchildren, Lawson Moffatt, Myrick Moffatt, Cole Murphy and Grey Murphy.



Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 27, 2017 at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson with the Rev. William Allison officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, February 26, 2016 at Lathan Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service at Coffeeville Town Cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.



Pallbeaers will by Craig Scruggs, Duelan Dunagan, Jim Slayton, Larry Jones, Jim Moffatt and Joseph Murphy..
