Jean Tarver Blackmon, 80, of St. Stephens, passed away Friday, October 1, 2021 at her residence. She was born in St. Stephens on March 27, 1941 to Rance Henry Powell, Sr. and Helen Ludene Keith Powell. She had been employed as a seamstress at Vanity Fair and New Era. She enjoyed yard work, sewing, and more than anything, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Hiram Tarver, Lister Blackmon; son, Randy Tarver; grandson, Nic Coker and siblings, James Rance Powell, Jr., Robert Powell, Billy Ray Powell and Joel Powell.
She is survived by her children, James "Duffy" (Kim) Tarver, Debra "Sam" Coker; grandchildren, Clint Coker, Tiffany (Josh) Deas, Brandon (Morgan) Tarver, Mason Edwards; great-grandchildren, Lexi Deas, Emileigh Coker, Landon Deas, Justice Edwards, Baylee Coker, Kelcey Coker, Evelyn Tarver and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, October 4, 2021 at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson with the Rev. Glenn Sullivan officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Clearwater Assembly of God Cemetery in Wagarville with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Josh Deas, Adam Powell, Channing Powell, Chris Powell, Daryl Powell and Rance "Bud" Powell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Melvin Coker, Tim Coker and Randy Powell.
