Jerry Thomas Butts, 70, of Grove Hill, passed away Monday, June 1, 2020 at his residence. He was born September 20, 1949 to Thomas and Nell Jackson Butts. A member of Stave Creek Baptist Church, he enjoyed spending time with his family and having family cookouts, cutting grass, washing his cars and riding his Ranger ATV. He was also a fan of The University of Alabama football team.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Frances Rowell, Sonny Butts and James “Bo” Butts.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Butts; children, Jerry Wayne Butts, Thomas “Bubba” (Jennifer) Butts; granddaughter, Mallory Butts; sister, Charlotte Hitt and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at Stave Creek Baptist Church in Jackson with Dr. Andy Goode and Rev. Jimmie Butts officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Steven Bumpers, Ralph Clayton, Jr., Shawn Hitt, Mathew Pritchard, Kenneth “Juicy” Rivers and Tim Rowell.
Honorary pallbearers will be member of the Jerry Thomas Adult Sunday School Class at Stave Creek Baptist Church, Ralph Clayton, Sr., Timmy Rowell, Tom Thompson and Thomas Schultz.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the building fund at Stave Creek Baptist Church
