Jessie Edward Mills, 75, of Jackson, passed away Monday, April 1, 2019 at the Jackson Health Care Facility. He was born in Mobile on June 24, 1943 to Cecil And Verna Mills, both of whom preceded him in death. An avid golfer, he also enjoyed hunting and working on Volkswagen cars and was affectionately known as "The Volkswagen Man." He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jackson and the Jaycees and had retired from Boise Cascade where he was a chemical and raw materials handler.
He is survived by his wife, Mary A. Mills; children, Cindy Mills Faith, Rodney Edward (Dana) Mills; grandchildren, Jessica (Jeffery) Sloat, Mikeal (Kayla) Finch, II, Hunter Faith, Hayden Mills; great-grandchildren, Tucker Sloat, Anna Kayte Finch, Addilyn Claire Finch and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson with Dr. Ben Stubblefield and Rev. Brian Jemison officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Stave Creek Baptist Cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Mikeal Finch, II, Hunter Faith, Hayden Mills, David McKee, Jeffery Sloat, Michael Breedlove, Mike Tarleton and Chris Tarleton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Walter Looper, David Vesley, Mike Breedlove, Dave Gallagher, Harry Hamilton, Jay McKee and James Foster.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the First Baptist Church of Jackson.
