Jewell Paul

Jewell Luverne Griffin Paul, age 88, of Grove Hill, Alabama, passed away after an extended illness on Saturday, December 1, 2018, at the Jackson Medical Center. She was born on March 23, 1930 in Walker Springs, to the late W. J. and Gladys Few Griffin. She attended Union Baptist Church in Grove Hill. She enjoyed raising flowers, bird watching, reading and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elby Paul; her sons, Robert Lee Paul and Ricky Paul; her parents, W. J. Griffin and Gladys Few Griffin and her sister, Judy Griffin Foster.
She is survived by four sons, Ellis (Patricia) Paul of Wagarville, Jimmy (Kay) Paul, Mike (Ouida) Paul and David Paul all of Grove Hill; brothers, James (Linda) Griffin of Grove Hill; Billy (Paula) Griffin of Jackson and sisters, Shirley (Jackie) Chastain of Jackson, and Gerry Fay Griffin of Walker Springs; 12 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 3, 2018, at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson with Dr. Johnny Kendrick and Rev. Dustin Shelander officiating and pianist, Esther Edge providing the music. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. and continue until the 2:00 p.m. funeral service. Burial will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Jackson with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Paul, Andrew Paul, Chance Paul, Dennis Howard, Larry Busby, Scotty Rostas, Doug Christian and Mike Parmer.
Honorary Pallbearers will be her caregivers, Lorean Washington, Tammy Parnell, Sharon Bumpers, Donna Kay Tucker, Ida Jones, and hospice nurses, Donna York, April O'Guynn, Vicki Smith and Mary Pugh.
