Joan Simmons

Joan Simmons, 87, of Jackson, passed away October 9, 2018 at her residence. She was born September 14, 1931 in Franklin, KY to I.S. "Bud" and Lola Mae Laney. A faithful servant of Stave Creek Baptist Church, she attended Western Kentucky University as a Biology Major student. Mrs. Simmons enjoyed cooking at the Boy Scout camp every year. She had been self-employed as a book keeper and also worked for a time at Jackson Sawmill. She loved spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and children, Steven Lewis Simmons, John Richard Simmons and Bobbi Lou Hancock.
She is survived by her son, Sam Simmons; grandchildren, Ashley Simmons LeCroix, Melanie Simmons Johnson, Laney Andrews, Samuel Hancock, Lori Faile; great-grandchildren, Sam and Maggie LeCroix, Aubrey, Garrett and Eli Johnson, Audrey, Sawyer and Carson Andrews, Brysun and Andrew Hancock and Benjamin, Nathan and Winston Faile.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 12, 2018 at Stave Creek Baptist Church in Jackson with Dr. Andy Goode and Rev. Wesley Hicks officiating. Visitation will begin two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Jackson with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Mahlon LeCroix, Ramie Johnson, Samuel Hancock, Wade Faile, Chris Andrews, Bill Colvin, Dick Brown and John Kinman.
