John Floyd Calhoun, 92, of Grove Hill passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Jackson Medical Center. He was born November 7, 1923 to John Winters Calhoun and Lena Carter Calhoun. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was a prisoner of war in the Battle of the Bulge during WWII in 1944. He was a graduate of Auburn University and retired from the Clarke County Health Department where he served as the Health Administrator for Clarke, Washington and Choctaw counties.
Survivors include his daughter, Patricia (Ralph) Garrick of Chatom; grandchildren, Kyle (Allison) Calhoun, Allieson (Justin) Crager, Colin (Kellie) Garrick, Kathryn Calhoun; daughter-in-law, Susan Calhoun Hill and great-grandchildren, John Robert Calhoun and Emily Kate Crager.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 2, 2016 at Lathan Funeral Home in Grove Hill with the Rev. Holly Morales officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Grove Hill Cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
