John M. Gunn, Sr. 89, of Jackson, passed away Thursday, March 4, 2021, at Jackson Medical Center. He was born in Jackson on May 22, 1931 to George Gunn, Sr. and Mary McIntyre Gunn. He had been employed as a paper maker at Boise Cascade, had attended Rockville Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He was a golf enthusiast and a fan of The University of Alabama football program. He also enjoyed fishing and he and his wife, Faye, enjoyed many trips to the mountains and New Orleans among other vacation destinations.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Faye Gunter Gunn; son, Keith Werner Tarleton and siblings, George Gunn, Jr. and Ouida "Polly" Gunn Waller.
He is survived by his children, Ronnie Tarleton, Robbie (Bridgett) Tarleton, Beth Tarleton (Arvis) Slack, John (Vicky) Gunn, Jr.; grandchildren, Tara (Jason) Anderson, Bart Tarleton, Rob (Katie) Tarleton, Bill Tarleton, Leila (Bo) Nichols, Brooke Alday (Todd) Sellers, Caleb (Tiffany) Alday, Jake Slack, Gabriel Gunn, Mary Gunn, Annabelle Gunn; seventeen great-grandchildren; two great, great grandchildren; numerous other relatives and friends.
