John Laton Jr

John Franklin Laton, Jr., 87, of Chatom, passed away October 16, 2016 at his residence. He was born July 28, 1929 to John Franklin Laton Sr. and Etta Scarbrough Laton. He had been employed with Greers Consultants in Canton, Texas and enjoyed raising cattle, hunting and spending time with his family.


He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Carpenter Laton; children, Linda Laton, Brent (Sandra) Laton and sister, Voncile Allen.


Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Laton Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Ricky Revette officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the church cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.


Active pallbearers are Leon Laton, Elvin Laton, Travis Loper, Drew Reynolds, Steve Burton, David Williams, Stacey Carpenter and Buddy Reynolds.


Honorary pallbearers will be Jettie M. Pough, Vernettia Kirksey, Chasity Everett, Rosie McDougle and Temekia Pough.
