Joseph Daniel Johnson

Joseph Daniel Johnson, 46 of Eight Mile, died July 8, 2023. Daniel was born August 17, 1976 to Emory C. Sr and Flora E Johnson. A simple, southern man, Daniel was an avid Alabama Football fan who enjoyed spending time with his grandbabies. He had worked at Austal as a crane operator for several years. A cut-up who loved to laugh, Daniel was known for his sharp wit. Daniel was blessed to have found contentment in life when he met his beloved wife, Charity.

Daniel is preceded in death by his father, Emory C. Johnson, Sr. and sister, Melissa Jo Parnell.

He is survived by his loving wife, Charity Johnson; children, Joseph Mason Johnson (Kindred), Celeste Reid (Hunter) and Gabriel McGraw; grandchildren, Juniper Johnson and Grace Reid; mother, Flora E. Johnson; brother, Emory Johnson, Jr.; sister, Lanette Mendoza (Jaime) and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Services will be held Thursday, July 13, 2023 at Lathan Funeral Home, Jackson. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the service begins at 12:00 noon with Rev. Jason Carpenter and Rev. Allen Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow in Midway Community Cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
