Joyce Warren

Joyce Marie Brown Warren was born April 12, 1927 to parents, John Thomas Brown and Kitty Wheeler Brown. She was called to heaven on May 13, 2022.
During her days she enjoyed telling the story of her whirlwind courtship that started on a blind date with a dashing young navy sailor home on a 30-day leave from the military. She would say it must have been love at first sight. They met, dated and married in this 30-day leave. Walter W. Warren, Jr. was her soulmate from March 13, 1948 to his passing June 13, 2010. She was proud of his military service which included being a "Pearl Harbor Survivor". She enjoyed talking of their travels together while living the military life. She enjoyed settling into the Millry Community, spending time gardening and living the country life. She was a member of Millry Baptist Church where she would sing in the choir.
Left behind to cherish her memories are her near and dear nephews, Jeffrey (Dawn) Brown and James Brown, Jr. (Charolette); great nieces and nephews Brittany Tindle (Lee), Brooklyn Brown (Henry), Thomas Brown and Ryan Brown; a host of other nieces and nephews along with sisters-in-law, Vassar Brown and Betty Warren. Joyce was preceded in death by brothers Thomas (Wanvis) Brown and James H Brown, Sr.
Bro Billy Kendrick will be officiating a Graveside Service Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 11:00 am at Healing Springs Cemetery in Millry. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Amedisys and Southern Care Hospice for their care in her final days.
