Juanita Vivian Thompson Shamburger, 80, of Chatom, passed away Monday, January 18, 2021 at her residence. She was born October 2, 1940 in Alabama to Leroy Thompson and Nancy Sullivan Thompson. She had retired as a supervisor in the coding/editing department with the Internal Revenue Service. She enjoyed knitting and ceramics and was an excellent marksman.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Janiece Williams and Mildred Havard.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Frank Shamburger; sons, Bill (Wynne) Shamburger, Scott Shamburger; grandchildren, Skye Shamburger, Cody Shamburger; great-grandchildren, Dreagan Bussberg, Kingston Busk and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 22, 2021 at Lathan Funeral Home in Chatom with Bro. Nelson Thompson officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2021 and again an hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Hobson Assembly of God Cemetery in Hobson with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Earl Williams, Brandon Bennett, Jeffrey Sloat, Justin Sloat, Glen London and Eric Kroodsma.
