Katie "Katie-bug" Laura Gilchrist, 33, passed away March 1, 2024 after a lengthy hospital stay. Katie was born June 7, 1990 to Stevie and Betty Gilchrist. She had attended Jackson High School. Katie was a devoted member of Calvary Independent Baptist Church of Grove Hill where she was responsible for the children's Mission; she collected mission offerings which were sent to missionary's abroad at Christmas time to ensure their children had a Merry Christmas. Her work with the church was a perfect example of her big and kind heart. Katie had a bubbly personality and never met a stranger, enjoying meeting new people with a handshake as much as greeting dear friends with a big hug. She loved to share her joy for life by singing including singing specials at church, her favorite being It Is Well With My Soul. She loved her Lord and her family, especially her precious niece, Katherine, and little cousin, Abigail.
Katie is survived by her parents, Stevie and Betty Gilchrist; sister, Katrina (Marcus) Ealy; niece, Katherine Hope Ealy; aunts and uncles, Laurine (Kenny) Johnson, Dorothy (Phil) Gilchrist, Nathan Overstreet, James Gilchrist, Gary (Beverly) Gilchrist, Jackie (Ray) Williams; as well as a host of dear cousins, other relatives and friends.
