Kenneth Bryan Higginbotham, 56, of Jackson, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Jackson Health Care Facility. He was born in Mobile on June 30, 1964 to William Higginbotham, Jr. and Lorraine McClinton Higginbotham. A retired teacher with the Clarke County Board of Education, he taught at Jackson Middle School and coached numerous athletic teams at Jackson High School. He also served as a baseball and softball umpire throughout the state. He was named Mr. Jackson High School during his senior year (1982) and would remain a loyal member of “The Aggie Nation” throughout his life. He was an avid softball player who traveled the U.S. playing with different teams and was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Jackson where he sang in the choir and considered the annual Vacation Bible School week to be the best time of the year. Hunting and fishing were also favorite hobbies.
He is survived by his wife, Shan D. Higginbotham; daughters, Jessica Ann Higginbotham (Micah) Messer, Lara Casey Higginbotham (Ethan) Reid; father, Bill (Sarah) Higginbotham; mother, Lorraine Higginbotham; siblings, Keith (Anita) Higginbotham, Donna (Craig) Guyton; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 12, 2020 at Liberty Baptist Church in Thomasville with Dr. Ben Stubblefield and Rev. Willie Coleman officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson. Visitation will be a "come and go" event to alleviate a large gathering. Interment will follow the service on Sunday at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be John Brown, Griffin Guyton, John Higginbotham, Bo McClinton, Mark McClinton and Greg Sellers.
Honorary pallbearers will be all members of “The Aggie Nation.”
