Kiyoko “Sunshine” Himada Lee, 81, of Jackson, passed away Monday, December 23, 2019 at her residence. She was born March 10, 1938 to Kikuichi Hamada and Toyoko Kaneyama Hamada in Nagasaki, Japan. She came to the United States after meeting her husband, D.P. Lee, who served as a supervisor of the district where she lived in Nagasaki. Their love story was one of true devotion and neither ever wanted to be separated from the other. She happily followed him to America despite a significant language and culture barrier, but she quickly learned the language and adapted to an American lifestyle.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, three sisters and one brother
She is survived by one brother and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 29, 2019 at Gaddis Chapel Cemetery in Jackson with Lathan Funeral Home directing. No public visitation is planned.
