Laurine Johnson

Laurine Overstreet Johnson, 72, of Rockville, passed away on March 22, 2025, at Mobile Infirmary. She was born on September 2, 1952, to parents Woodie C. and Dorothy Sheffield Overstreet. Mrs. Johnson loved her family, cooking canning, and spending time in her garden. She ran her own interior decorating company for several years and enjoyed sharing her knack of decorating with her friends, she was a member of Calvery Baptist and taught Sunday School there.

Preceded in death by her parents Woodie and Dorothy Overstreet, brother Willie Overstreet, mother and father-in-law Roy and Wilda Johnson.

Survived by her husband of 45 years Kenny Johnson, daughter Rachel (Robin) Wilson, son Christopher (Holly) Johnson, grandchildren Gray Wilson, Sarah, Sadie, Seth, and Sam Johnson, sisters Dorothy (Phil) Gilchrist, Betty (Stevie) Gilchrist, brother Nathan Overstreet, sister-in-law Deborah (Jerry) Taylor. Also many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and loving friends.

Pallbearers will be Donovan Carpenter, James Carpenter, Angelo Chapman, Chris York, Phillip Gilchrist, Jason Overstreet. Honorary pallbearers are Terry Reed and Wrangler Williams.

Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson, with a visitation one hour prior to services. Bro. Harvey Hutto officiating, interment to follow at Rockville Baptist Church Cemetery.
