Leila H. Powell, 58, of Walker Springs, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at Mobile Infirmary. She was born June 20, 1962 in Thomasville to Alvin and Alice Marie Hepstall. She was employed as the office manager and vet technician at Clarke County Animal Hospital and attended Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. An avid reader, she was deeply devoted to animals of all kinds and was passionate about her flower gardens.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Roy Edward Hepstall and “LeLe,” her beloved Pekingese.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Powell, siblings, Robert James “Jimmy” Hepstall, Alvin B. (Carol) Hepstall, Mary Virginia (Steven) Dominick, Judy Ann (Neal) Sheffield, Jacob Earl (Laura) Hepstall; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson with the Revs. William Allison and David Lee officiating. Adam Mathews will be the soloist. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Jackson with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Dillon Croom, Jason Gates, Scott Gates, Adam Hepstall, Jamie Hepstall, Michael Hepstall, Jessie Marshall and Dean Moseley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Steven Dominick, Ben Marshall, Jimmy Marshall, Glenn Moseley, Casey Powell, Dr. Ed Sellers and Neal Sheffield.
