Lena Allday Wilson, 94, of Leroy, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at Washington County Nursing Home. She was born in Sunflower on Tuesday, October 9, 1927. Prior to retirement, she had been employed at Vanity Fair. A member of First Baptist Church, she had served as the WMU Director and was very involved in all aspects of church activities. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Murray L. Allday, Nettie Elizabeth Motes Allday; husband, Johnie J. Wilson; children, Patrick Wilson, John Perry Wilson, Diana Lynne Brown and siblings, Cecil Allday, Russell Allday, Annie Lee Etheredge and Eunice Odom.
She is survived by her daughter, Yvette (Andrew) Elmore; grandchildren, Chris (Caty) Wilson, John (Christy) Wilson, Kayla Brown, Julie (David) Smith, Don (Jana) Elmore, numerous great-grandchildren; one great, great-grandson and numerous other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at the New First Baptist Church of Leroy Cemetery with Rev. Dave Delegal and Dr. Ben Posey officiating and Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Chet Elmore, Hunter Harper, Kirk Savage, David Smith, Drew Smith, Chris Wilson and John Wilson.
The Joe Pace Palmer Sunday Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
While floral arrangements are welcome, donations in her memory may be made to The First Baptist Church of Leroy Library Fund.
