Leslie E. Hoven, 84, of Jackson, passed away Friday, October 4, 2019 at his residence. He was born June 15, 1935 to Harvey Rufus Hoven and Lelia Maud Thomas Hoven in Jackson. An active member of Stave Creek Baptist Church in Jackson, he enjoyed outdoor activities such as driving his tractor and deer hunting at “The Swamp” on the Tombigbee River where his family frequently gathered.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Catherine Hoven, Mary Nell Green, Cecil M. Hoven, Johnny Wayne Hoven, Bobby Lane Hoven and his twin brother, Jessie Melvin Hoven.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Bozeman Hoven; children, Anna (Randy) Rogers, Susie (Chris) Brooks; grandchildren, Katie Rogers, Dusty Rogers, Logan Howard, Cassie Howard, Ashlynn “Lil’ Red” Brooks; siblings, Dora Williamson, Charles Hoven, Ray (Pat) Hoven, Carol Carlisle and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 7, 2019 at Stave Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Hughie Denton, Dr. Andy Goode and Rev. David Guy officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Randy Rogers, Chris Brooks, Logan Howard, Dusty Rogers, Norman Green and Jeff Green.
Honorary pallbearers will be Hyram Beesley, Benny Bumpers and Chris Howard.
