Lillie Mae Taylor, 79, of Chatom, passed away January 28, 2019 at Providence Hospital. She was born May 28, 1939 to Jempsy Powell and Ollie Mae White, both of whom preceded her in death. Chatom has been home to her family since her marriage to Alton Taylor in 1955. She retired from Washington County School after two decades of dedication as the cafeteria manager at the middle school. Along with her husband, she opened Taylor's Seafood Shop in Chatom. She was a devoted Christian and an active member of New Life Fellowship Church. She will be remembered as an "extraordinary cook." She enjoyed cooking for church occasions, community events, and especially for family and friends
She was preceded in death by her husband; brother, Woodsin Gilpin and sister, Roxie Flint.
She is survived by her children, Albert Taylor, Nathan Taylor, Lorraine (Jay) Scurry, Edward (Ann) Taylor; grandchildren, Paul (Michelle) Williams, Jerry (Michelle) Taylor, Britney Taylor; four great-grandchildren; brother, Jimmy Ray Powell and numerous other friends and relatives.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 1, 2019 at New Life Fellowship Church in Chatom with the Revs. Danny Wilson and Neal Taylor officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Taylor Cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Paul Williams, Taylor Williams, Jerry Taylor, John Nathan Taylor, Jason Williams and Daryl Powell.
