Louise Coleman White Harvey, 102, of Jackson, AL, was a loving daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother who went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 24, 2025.
Louise was born June 9, 1922, to parents Frank Earl White, Sr. and Helen Carnathan White in West Bend, AL.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Russell H. Harvey; parents, Frank and Helen White; siblings, John Hays White, Hester Ann White Clardy, Frank Earl White, Jr., Helen B. White, Lucille Anderson, Mary G. Ownby, Billie Jean Reid; son, Darral F. Harvey; daughter-in-law, Mary R. Harvey; great-great- grandson, William Trace Reeves.
She is survived by her children, Kent (Karen) Harvey, Howard Harvey, Terry (Pat) Harvey, and Marilyn Martin; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Louise was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jackson. There she enjoyed participating in various activities. She especially enjoyed singing in the choir, traveling on overnight adventures with the church members, and attending luncheons where they would gather to eat and play games. She was a member of the WMU.
Louise dedicated her life to caring for her family. She cared for her aging parents for years, as well as other family members. Her home was always open to her children and grandchildren, as she loved each of them dearly. She always had a meal prepared and her guests never left hungry.
Louise was a character. She had an excellent sense of humor; she loved to laugh and make others laugh. She was loved by everyone she met, and she was a joy to be around.
As a talented seamstress, Louise made baby quilts, dolls, and clothes for her great-grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, smocking, China painting, card games, a competitive round of dominoes, watching Atlanta Braves, and cooking meals for others.
While dating, Russell promised Louise, "Girl, I am going to take you places." He fulfilled that promise by working across the country and always making time to explore places like the Grand Canyon, the Petrified Forest, Yellowstone National Park, Redwood Forest, the Painted Dessert and the Cliff Dwellers. The family loved their travels, and the children have fond memories from that time.
After many years of working and traveling, they settled down in West Bend, AL where they raised their family before moving to Jackson, AL. They owned and operated Harvey's TV in downtown Jackson.
Of all that Louise accomplished, the most significant is that she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. While Russell took Louise to several places on Earth, her family is comforted to know that she is in her final resting place in the presence of God.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at John L. White Family Cemetery in West Bend, AL, with Dr. Brian Jemison officiating, at 2:00 p.m. and under the direction of Lathan Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are David Harvey, Jason Harvey, Richard Harvey, Russell Harvey, Harvey Martin, Heath Harvey and Jon Harvey.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Louise's name to First Baptist Church of Jackson at 214 College Avenue, Jackson, AL 36545.
