Lucy Dortch

Lucy O. Dortch, 90, of Jackson, passed away December 13, 2016 at Jackson Medical Center. She was born June 2, 1926 to John and Zillah Oliver. She worked at Vanity Fair, formerly Clarke Mill, for 6 years before quiting to be a homemaker. She enjoyed quilting and creating art work. She grew up attending Tompkins Baptist Church, attended Pilgrims Rest Primitive Baptist Church in McVay for a time, and finally attended Leroy Baptist Church.



She was preceded in death by her parents.



She is survived by her son, William E. "Bill" (Carolyn) Dortch, Jr.; granddaughter, Natalie Nicole Dortch and great-grandson, Mathew Landon Clark all of Leroy.



Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on December 16, 2016 at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson with the Rev. James Watkins officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Mathews Cemetery in Grove Hill with Lathan Funeral Home directing.



Active Pallbearers will be Bobby Reeves, Billy Reeves, Jimmy Reeves, Charles Reeves, Robert Davis, Elwood Overstreet, and Joe Parsons.



Honorary Pallbearers will be Gordon Clolinger, James Reeves, the staff of Jackson Medical Center, the staff of Jackson Health Care Facility, the staff of Homestead Hospice, as well as others.
