Lumerl 'Merle' Lawley

Lumerl Lane Lawley, 90, of Jackson, passed away January 29, 2024. She was born on December 30, 1933. To parents Marcus Cloyd and Claudia Marie White Lane. Merle retired with 25 years as a business owner and hairdresser of her shop "Merle's Beauty Shop". She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Jackson, she loved her church family. She enjoyed taking trips to visit and spend time with her family and extended family.

Preceded in death by her husband Charles 'Bud' Lawley, daughter Alice Wilkins, parents, and two sisters and four brothers.

Survived by her son Wendell Ryals, daughter Joannie Ryals, grandchildren Charles Zachary Wilkins, Brent Ryals, Jacob (Mandy) Ryals, Mackenzie Handcock, great grandson Cohen Lane Ryals. Also many nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends.

Pallbearers will be Zachary Wilkins, Brent Ryals, Jacob Ryals, Neal Bradley, Gary Williams, and Brad Holcomb.

Honorary pallbearers will be the women members of her church. A special thanks from her family to her caregiver Christine Phillips.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Lumerl Lawley to First Presbyterian Church P.O. Box 355 Jackson, AL 36545.

Funeral Services will be at 12 p.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at the First Presbyterian Church in Jackson with a visitation starting at 11 a.m. Pastor Taylor Morgan officiating and Lathan Funeral Home directing. Online condolences may be shared at www.lathanfuneralhome.com
