Luvern Smith

Luvern Chunn Smith, born February 3, 1931, age 93, died August 8, 2024, in Mobile, Alabama. She was born in Uriah, Alabama, to the late Leonard L. and Ethel Hodges Chunn. She attended schools in Monroe and Escambia Counties, Alabama, then Birmingham Business College, Patrick Henry State Junior College, and The University of South Alabama. Luvern worked in the offices of Doctor William Deshazo when he first moved to Jackson in 1952, then later taught Special Education in Northwest Florida and Dale County, Alabama.

Luvern was preceded in death by brothers James Chunn and Don Chunn. She is survived by husband Dalton James Smith, sisters Wilma Johnson and Ruth Mothershed, children Carol S. Revel (Robert), Kenneth M. Smith (Tracy), Kevin J. Smith (Patricia), Timothy B. Smith (Karla), 9 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren.

A Celebration of her life will be held at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Jackson, Alabama at 2:00 P M on Saturday, August 17, 2024. The church will be hosting the family and friends in the Parish House after the service.
