Margaret Frances Barnes McClamy, 91, of Jackson, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at her residence. She was born July 1, 1929 in Plateau, AL to Francis Elliott Barnes and Margaret Gatsey Williams Barnes. An active member of Forest Avenue Baptist Church, she was a devout Christian who enjoyed her worship time and reading her Bible daily. She was also a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and spent her time caring for her family's needs while her husband owned and operated Mac's Drugstore in Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert Melton "Mac" McClamy, Jr.; son, Daniel Melton McClamy and siblings, Eloise Barnes Thompson, Franklin Barnes, James Barnes, Betty Barnes Padgett, Shirley Barnes Mudd and Karleen Barnes Hockaday.
She is survived by daughters, Jeanne McClamy Wickell, Suzanne McClamy Browning; grandchildren, Kyle (Karly) Wickell, Rachel (Tim) Lynch, Hunter Browning; great-granddaughter, Skylar Olivia Wickell; best friend, Helen McKee and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 1, 2021 at Forest Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. Ed Howard officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Jackson with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Terry W. Barnes, Hunter Browning, Dixon Greer, Ward A. Jackson, Kenneth McIntyre and Kyle Wickell.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Ladies III Sunday School Class at Forest Avenue Baptist Church and Randy Guy.
