Margaret Parnell, 75, of Tibbie, went home to be with our Lord and Savior Sunday, October 20, 2019. She was born October 5, 1944 to Marvin and Ethel Henagan of Opp, Alabama. A committed wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Margaret lived a life of servitude to her family, friends, and community. A faithful member of Tibbie Baptist Church, she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years and was known to be a selfless, devoted servant of God. Margaret’s passion and ministry as a Registered Nurse was carried out through employment with the State of Alabama Department of Public Health for 44 years where served as nursing supervisor for Washington and Clarke Counties.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Norman Hollis Parnell; children, Norman Mel (Terra) Parnell, Amy Christina Parnell Latham, and Stephen Kyle Parnell; grandchildren, Madison Lynn Parnell, Thomas Ry Latham, Mason Tyler Parnell, Matthew Conner Parnell, Graden Gunn Latham, and Sumner Hollis Latham; great-granddaughter, Ella Grace Tucker; siblings, Carolyn (Harold) DuBose, Ricky (Kathy) Henagan and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at Tibbie Baptist Church with the Rev. Woodie Baugh officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Frank Williams, Wesley Knapp, Mike Knapp, Andy Timothy, Scottie Akridge, and Johnny Howard. Honorary Pallbearers are Tom Baxter, Aaron Coaker, Greg Williams, David Blackmon, and Buck Buchanan.
