Marjorie Jane Stewart Grayson, 82, of Memphis, TN, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, June 19, 2022. She was born on Sunday, April 21, 1940, in Meridian, MS. Margie was an avid reader who also enjoyed gardening and needlework, but her biggest passion was spending time with her family. While living in Spanish Fort, AL, she was a member of the Spanish Fort Presbyterian Church, Rotary Club International, Spanish Fort Garden Club, American Bankers Association and served on numerous non-profit boards. She was a trailblazer in her time holding numerous management positions with Colonial Bank before retiring in 2005. In retirement she was an avid Genealogy researcher for our family histories, digging, discovering verifying both McFarland and Creagh histories that had been previously buried. In collaboration with grandson Dobson Dunavant, Margie recently completed colorful stories of family history in "Our Roots Grow Deep". She was preceded in death by her parents, James Arthur Stewart, Emma Ruth McFarland Stewart and husband, James Herbert Grayson, Sr.
She is survived by her children, James Herbert Grayson, Jr., Leslie Grayson Drinan; brothers, John Paul Stewart, Edward Clifton McCormick; grandchildren, Shanna Karin Grayson, Sophia MacFarland Dunavant, John Dobson Dunavant, Jr and Grayson Stewart Dunavant and great-grand daughter MaKayla Karin Willis.
A private graveside service will be conducted at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at Creagh Cemetery in Grove Hill with the Rev. Renea Henderson officiating and Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Drinan, Dobson Dunavant, James Grayson, Hunter Levengood and Mack McCormick.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to an organization of the donor's choice.
