Marie Williams

Marie C. Williams, 89, of Fruitdale, passed away on September 27, 2022, with her loving family by her side. She was born in Koenton, AL on March 3, 1933, to Mack and Myrtle Singleton Carpenter. She worked at Northern Electric as an operator and also for the Washington County School District in the cafeteria. Marie had a talent for sewing and quilting. She also loved the outdoors and gardening, especially attending to her flower beds. She enjoyed spending time doing crossword puzzles and listening to country music. She attended Fruitdale Church of the Brethren where she was the church secretary for many years. She also taught Sunday School classes and Bible School classes. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband of 48 years Benjamin Washington Williams, her son Jimmy Williams, brothers Leo Carpenter, W.C. Carpenter, sisters Mildred Ezell, and Bernice Brewer.
Survived by her children Larry (Gloria) Williams, Patsy (Abe) Hutto, Ginger Eastman, Pam (Steve) McNeil, and Jeff (Amy) Williams, 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 5 step great grandchildren, sisters Catherine Baxter, and Inez (Warren) Dees. Also, many nieces, nephews, and extended family and loving friends.
Pallbearers will be Jacob McDonald, Jackson Coaker, Larry Wayne Williams, Oscar Tores, Keith McNeil, Justin Williams, Jonathan Eastman, Jared Duncan, Bradley Ethridge, and Robert Hulsey.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 1,2022 at the Fruitdale Church of the Brethren with Rev. Tommy Ezell and Bro. Ben Williams officiating and Lathan Funeral Home directing.
