Marilyn Miller

April 4, 1947 — August 11, 2014

Marilyn Janeen Miller, 67, of Grove Hill, AL died on Monday, August 11, 2014 at her home. She was born on April 4, 1947 in Anderson, Indiana to the late Melvin F. and Mary F. (Snipes) Clapper. Janeen spent her formative years in Bradenton, FL where she was in the Manatee County School System. A family transfer brought her back to Indiana where she graduated from Windell Wilkie High School. It was during that summer that she met her husband of almost 49 years, D. Jay Miller. She spent the majority of her married life in Ossian, Indiana where she was a homemaker. After Jay's retirement they moved to Grove Hill where they enjoyed traveling around the Gulf Coast. Her experience while playing the french horn in her high school orchestra and marching band continued in to her adulthood. She played french horn in the Wells County Community Band, the 1976 Bi-Centennial Band and the Ossian Sesquicentennial Band. Most recently, she was a member of the Flying Bricks Community Band in Thomasville, AL. Janeen's love of family history and genealogy research was very evident during her membership in the Snipes Family of America where she was an award winning editor of the Snipes Hunter newsletter. After almost 20 years of service she resigned due to health concerns. She has always had numerous craft interests but none so important to her as her quilting. Janeen has over 200 quilts under her belt in the past 40 years and loved to share her thoughts and designs with fellow members of the Cozy Quilters Quilt Guild in Thomasville. She blessed numerous friends and family with these quilts. She was preceded in death by her "un-grand-son", Lonnie Shelton. Survivors include her husband, Jay of Grove Hill, AL; son, D.
