Marion Marvis Mason, 83, of Leroy, passed away peacefully Friday, July 24, 2020 at his residence surrounded by family. He was born September 19, 1936 in Lucedale, MS to Claude and Evelyn Mason. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he had been employed as a funeral director for 46 years, 28 of those at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson. He was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Walker Springs.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Esther Seals Mason and second wife, Ruth Atchinson Mason and brothers, Lyman Perry Mason and Aaron "Sonny" Mason.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Eloise McCloskey Mason; children, Donald (Jacinta) Mason, Ronald Mason, Terri (Don) Parnell; grandchildren, Nikki (John) Drinkard, Miranda (Josh) Hymel Marissa (Schyler) Beech, Tony (Meagan) Mason, Jennifer (Chris) Taylor, BJ (Mindy) Garrick; daughter-in-law, Ramona Mason; sisters-in-law, Jean Drinkard, Erlean (Overtis) Holley, Johnnie Seals; brother-in-law, Earl (Alvidean) Seals; step-children, Linda (Mike) Blanton, Mike (Marilyn) Gwin, Debbie (Lee) Simmons; twelve step-grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
A private graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at Magnolia Cemetery in Lucedale, MS with the Rev. William Allison officiating and Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be John Drinkard, Joe Holley, Josh Hymel, Tony Mason, Don Parnell and Chris Taylor.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Mt. Gilead Baptist Church.
