Marion Lawrence Savage, 86, of Jackson, passed away Thursday, January 6, 2022 at the William F. Green Veteran's Home in Bay Minette. He was born in Jackson on Sunday, August 11, 1935. He served his country in the U.S. Marines, the U.S. Air Force and the National Guard. He had been employed at Boise Cascade (now PCA) prior to retirement and attended services at the First Baptist Church of Jackson and Walker Springs Road Baptist Church. A fan of the University of Alabama football program, he also enjoyed hunting, fishing and Bluegrass music.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Jackson Savage, Lois Chestine Smith Savage and wife, Jimmie Shirley McKinley Savage.
He is survived by his children, Judy (Randy) Bedwell, Larry (Molly) Savage, Ginger (Gil) Thomas; grandchildren, Chesley (Eric) Magnus, Rebecca (Vic) Hutto, Cayce Savage, Eastwood Thomas, Dylan Thomas; great-grandchildren, Kaycie (Jamie) Rush, Kayli (Tyler) Huggins, Kaden Kelly, Emma Magnus, Zoey (Matt) Sullivan and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at the First Baptist Church of Jackson with Dr. Ben Stubblefield and Rev. David Webb officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Jackson with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Vic Hutto, Eric Magnus, Jeff Savage, Dylan Thomas, Eastwood Thomas and Garrie Wheat.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bubba Rikard, Richard McMullen and Kevin Wheat.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made Walker Springs Road Baptist Church or the First Baptist Church of Jackson.
