Martha Roe Finney, 74, of Grove Hill, passed away Friday, August 21, 2020 at her residence. She was born in Grove Hill August 1, 1946 to George O. “Jim” Roe and Flossie Smith Roe. A faithful member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Walker Springs, she was a retired school bus driver with the Clarke County Board of Education and had been employed at Ultra Smart Hair Salon and Comb & Shear. She was an avid reader who also enjoyed cooking meals for her family and friends and enjoyed many trips across the United States.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Vernon Roe and Jean Howard.
She is survived by her husband, Lem Finney; children, Mitchell Finney, Chandra (Robert) Harrison; grandchildren, Jeremy Finney, Robyn Harrison, Tyler Harrison; great-grandson, Collin Finney; siblings, Barbara Wiggins, Kenneth (Deanie) Roe, Jerry Roe, Charles Roe, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2p.m. on Sunday, August 23, 2020 at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church with Pastors William Allison, Leon Harrison and Dan Finney officiating. Visitation will begin two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Grove Hill.
Pallbearers will be Shields Finney, Jr., Ben Roe, Thomas Sticher, Shane Thornton, Robert Walker and Jimmy Wayne Wiggins.
Honorary pallbearers will be the remaining nieces and nephews.
