Martha Hayes

Martha Jo Bumpers Hayes, 73, of Winn, Alabama, passed away on June 3, 2022. She was born on January 11, 1949, to A.M. "Jiggs" and Juanita Hicks Bumpers. Mrs. Hayes graduated from Jackson High School, class of '67, Martha loved her community. She was a member of the Kiwanis Club, Jackson Women's Club, past board member of CCARC, and past President of Jackson Chamber of Commerce and enjoyed volunteering whenever there was a need. Martha owned and operated The Looking Glass/Merle Norman Cosmetics, which she established in 1984. She loved her church family; she was a member and the pianist at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. Upon retiring, she enjoyed working in her yard and spending time with her family and friends. She will always be remembered for her birthday singing.
Preceded in death by her parents and sister Barbara Williams.
She is survived by her husband of over 54 years Troy Hayes, daughter Stacey (Jay) Chason, granddaughter Jamie (Geoff) Poulin and great-granddaughter Lucy Jo Poulin, brother George Bumpers, sisters Joyce Tippy and Kathy Stringer, and many other nieces, nephews, extended family, and loving friends.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Dolbear, David Padgett, Jeff Chason, Brad Thornton, Tony Tarver, Britt Bumpers, Tony Williams, Garrett Dolbear, Cole Tarver, and Terry Williams.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m., Monday June 6, 2022, at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson, visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Ralph Wooten and Rev. Tommy Gilliard officiating and Lathan Funeral Home directing. Interment will be at the Winn Community Cemetery.
