Martin Eldred Searcy, 91, of Jackson, passed away peacefully at his home on April 23, 2016. He was born July 28, 1924. After serving in the U.S. Army during WWII, he was employed as shift foreman at Boise Cascade until retirement. As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and taking care of his farm in the country. Hard work, family and church always came first, and he was read to lend a helping hand to friends and neighbors. After moving to Jackson from Childersburg in 1964, he was an active member of First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife and the love of his life for 71 years, Lulden Taylor Searcy; parents, J.W. and Dovie Searcy; siblings, Glen Searcy and Reba Searcy Steinard.
He is survived by sons, Martin V. (Andi Jones) Searcy of Lillian, Lawton E. (Rhonda Holmes) Searcy of Baton Rouge, LA; six grandchildren, Mat (Chrystal) Searcy of Montgomery, Mitzi Searcy (John) Mannon of Knoxville, TN, Mark (Stevie) Searcy of Birmingham, Robert (Kellie) Searcy of Lafayette, LA, Eric Searcy of Baton Rouge and Emileigh Searcy of Baton Rouge and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Friday, April 29, 2016 at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson. The family will receive guests from 11 until the time of the service. A private interment will be conducted in Berrydale, FL with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
