Marvin Mallry “Jethro” Richardson, 74, of Jackson, passed away Sunday, September 1, 2019 at Mobile Infirmary. He was born September 23, 1944 in Jackson to Mallry Richardson and Bernice Loper Richardson. Early in his career, he served in law enforcement under former chief Marlyn Cranford and former sheriff Ray Sheffield. He held many other jobs over the years including at S.D. Newman Construction, McKee Construction, Brown & Root, Leroy Gulf Station and J.O. Griffin Contracting. He was the former owner of Pine City Contracting, LLC, retiring in 2007.
He had a close circle of friends, including his Carlton family, hunting buddies, law enforcement friends, work friends, boatyard buddies, oil field buddies, his friends at The Palace and many others. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding around the swamp and taking care of The Lodges. He loved to cook out and spend time with family and friends.
He was a loving man who loved his family. He loved his wife and daughters, Donna and Sherry. His granddaughter Mallory was the love of his life. He is now reunited with his wife Jeanette in Heaven but is sadly missed by his “girls.”
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jeannette McMullen Richardson; children, Marla and Saenna Richardson, Marvin Keith Richardson and siblings, Carrie Richardson, Betty (William) Parnell and Lonnie (Trudy) Richardson.
He is survived by his “girls” whom he loved dearly including daughters, Donna (Craig) Crew, Sherry Butts; granddaughter, Mallory Butts; siblings, Ray (Ruth) Richardson, Don (Virginia) Richardson, Frankie (Emma Lou) Richardson, Annie Laura Beasley and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson with the Rev. Denise Park officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Trinity Memorial Gardens with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be Chuck Fendley, Charles Roe, Dickey Johnson, Tommy Richardson, Andy Tarver and Billy Rone.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Griffin, Ward Edge, Wayne Lathan, Jimmy Dowling, Ray Sheffield, Bill Taylor, Larry Gene Sheffield, Ray Wallace, Rodney Hancock and Wayne Rasco.
